Eva Morell is an editorial designer and photographer currently living and working in Barcelona. Fallyrag is proud to feature a collection of portrait photographs by Eva, which have the power to inspire and illuminate us all with her creative disposition.

Her photographs provide a home for strong, bold colour-choice that contrasts and forwards a sense of surreal reality. In her self-portraits, Eva uses her own body as another compositional feature rather than the focus of the frame, almost selflessly foregoing her own moment in the spotlight for the overall success of the picture.

Clever highlighting of small colour choices are often reflected in the make-up, or seemingly accidental, props. In many of her self-portraits, a bright red wins immediate recognition against a background of highly exposed light and pastel surfaces.

Eva’s detailed and coherent compositions reach a beautiful balance of intrigue and appealing aesthetic, which go a long way in revealing the photographer’s character. Her photographs demand a thoughtful muse and such musing is rewarded handsomely. Professional handling of light and contemplative subject matter make each image appear like a still from a far deeper narrative. The use of just one human element in each picture draws such a narrative to a single focus, encouraging compassion and affection toward the central character.
