Florian Nicolle's Suggested Form
Fallyrag

The internet is a wonderful tool for artists to share their work with people other than their mum and their nan's friends. Yet there is so much work out there now that you’re often left disappointed with over-saturated and somewhat mediocre ideas. It is a real thrill therefore to come across an artist whose work is both unique and excellently executed, so much so in fact, that you are left eagerly awaiting the next installment. Florian Nicolle is one such artist.

We first came across and featured Florian's art over a year ago and are delighted to be showcasing another collection of his work for you here. Those of you long-term Fallyraggers will remember Florian's last feature 'Eyes through blanket chaos'. An eclectic collection which has the artist experimenting with a digital technique that manages to capture deep, human emotion and it’s incredibly, visually, arresting.

This time around, Florian's work bears all the hallmarks of a Nicolle piece but now his technique has been further refined. As his confidence has grown, Florian delivers an increasingly realistic portrait buried under layers of loose strokes and lines that merely suggest form. Compared to a year ago, these works use the canvas rather than simply lay upon it. Less of the overall picture is actually shown but, fascinatingly, more is revealed. The emotion Florian is now able to capture using this technique is startling and a testament to the strength of these works is their immediate impact and growing sensibility.
