Choose Your Own Moral Code - Colouring Book
Fallyrag

Fallyrag took a deep creative breath when we first came across this thought-provoking, imaginative and insightful oddity from Jessica White. This beautifully made colouring book entitled ‘Choose your own Moral Code’ works on so many levels.

Simplicity is the foundation of how one moves from careful image & situation to the next and throughout the book, the childish naivity brilliantly counterposes the grave and serious topic of why one creature may define another as evil.

Jessica White told Fallyrag the following: “I made this zine as a response to the State of the Union Address in 2002 and the subsequent term, the ‘Axis of Evil’. I wondered how one person could determine who and what evil really is, and how the people of these countries feel about their new designation.

“I tried to figure out what exactly made them more evil than us, or anyone else, and how I personally define evil as opposed to good. The animals in this zine are meant to create a third person perspective; if we were talking about rabbits and squirrels, then maybe the absurdities of how we condemn others become more apparent.”

A big Fallyrag thanks to Jessica for sending us such thoughtful work to look at.
