Illustrations inspired by fashion designer Ulrika Sandström

Mia Degerman is a Swedish graphic designer and illustrator with a very striking and inspirational style, which combines new creative thought, alongside proven design periods.

The collection on display for you here is inspired by fashion designer Ulrika Sandström; Mia manages very artfully to reproduce the feel of Ulrika’s work, a gloss of sheik 1980’s, with a almost science fiction and alien quality.

Talented fashion designer Ulrika Sandström, who started her own label in 2004, provides a unique entry into the form of graphic design/illustration, from a genre that manages to unpick ideas, in textile, from across a very wide spectrum of influences. The result, for Mia, are some extremely eye-provoking pictures.

The crisp images in the foreground of the pictures stand out very clearly against the blurred backgrounds; they give the impression of floating across. However, complete separateness is avoided by an alluring use of blues, which bring all the elements together under a single ideal.

Ulrika Sandström’s latest collection, described thus: “The styles are simple with the use of geometrical shapes, in particular the circle, in cuts and construction.” This style is beautifully reflected in Mia’s work and stands as testament to her skill as a graphic illustrator.
