Underlying Typography
Fallyrag

Adam Kirkman's vibrant design offers a whole wealth of witty solutions and visual treats. His confident use of bold colours ensures he can't be ignored.

Featured here is a collection of his work that focuses predominantly on typography. But, rather than the shapes and construction of the letters, Adam considers the underlying message that different typefaces actually convey.

Unless you have a degree in Graphic Design, people generally don't consider what message a certain typeface (or font) gives out. Yet in the competitive world of visual communication, the difference between Helvetica and Comic Sans can decide the future of a business. That is to take two extreme examples, yet this consideration is highlighted by Adam's badges and t-shirt collection. Are you universal and popular?

The designer's innate ability at selecting type is perfectly demonstrated in another of his works 'No News Is Good News'. The italic slant, translucency, elated pink and curved serif trails of the 's' and 'w' all combine to create a positive headline.

But perhaps the most attune work is a perfectly constructed house of graphic tools. This piece observes the clutter of the designers habitat yet also the compulsiveness to make sense of it all. Order! Order! Order! The instruments also create a beautiful collection of 21st century memorabilia - a snippet into the here and now.
