“I've always been interested in the names and associations that we give to colours and what better example of this than household paint swatches. I took a selection of Dulux paint swatches and matched as many of them as I could to found objects. I then arranged them in colour order and created a further 2 posters derived from the original photographs, one showing an average colour generated from the photograph and another listing just the names given to the colours. The project is about taking a very methodical approach to colour and meaning, which is, of course, so dependent on individual tastes and perceptions.”
