DJ Frenzy has a degree in Visual Communications from the Lasalle College of Arts, which he took after his compulsory National Service in Singapore. Having tried his hand at several further education courses, including Engineering and Fine Art, DJ Frenzy has developed a unique and interesting style, which takes a lot of influence from the music industry.
Graphic design styles associated with hardcore/punk/skateboarding, especially that of Hydrahead Records, have been big influences on his work. However, he is not limited to these niche styles and takes a lot from designers like Josef Muller Brockman and Jan Tschichold “and also the United Visual Artists, which are simply amazing.”
DJ Frenzy’s images on display for you here are notable for their lack of colour, he told Fallyrag: “Looking back at it, these works seem to cut through the clutter that sometimes come with colour, and goes straight to the meat.” Coupled with an intricate eye for detail and wonderfully imaginative image juxtaposition, he creates a wonderful motif that is both dark and alluring.
As well as design, DJ Frenzy is also part of a band – I am David Sparkle – who will be shortly releasing their second album, alongside more photography work, and “God willing getting to design for bands I enjoy listening to”, he has a very busy time ahead.
