Contemporary Art
The Anonymity of Vincent-Klee
Julia Glandien

Vincent-Klee is a mixture between love and hate, street art and traditional art and also between superheroes  and super-failures. The two guys, standing for the artistic association, are from Bremen in Germany. They are well- known for their drawings as well as for their poster sessions.

Their artificial name is a mash up between two of the most famous painters in Europe: Vincent van Gogh and Paul Klee. At first nobody knows its meaning. It’s the feeling of knowing the name, that makes people asking: “Who is Vincent-Klee?”  It is understanding the name, as a mixture of identities that makes it sensical.

The two art students don’t  want to be compared with one another. They are two individuals, with their own styles and outlooks. In the galleries as well as on the streets, they prefer anonymity. That’s what the  former graffiti artists have proved: Leaving a name or a personal sign is no longer important.  Vincent-Klee is like a skater brand going mad.

In their own words their biggest influences are  “Life and the Copy of it”.
