Jazz-Rock is not dead, and Diagonal are living proof. The fusion of complex jazz rhythms and a pounding rock beat dates back to Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew album and has developed over the years into one of the most tripped out forms of rock’ n’ roll.

Brighton seven piece Diagonal have been plying their fusion wares for a few years now and have evolved an organic, yet complex sound that harks back to the genres forefathers such as Mahavishnu Orchestra and Magma. The band deftly mesh free form space rock vibes with virtuoso musicianship and, most importantly, quality song writing.

Having recently released their debut full length via Rise Above Records, and shared stages with the likes of Electric Wizard, Goblin, Gentlemen’s Pistols, and Astra, These guys are definitely at the more sophisticated end of new Prog movement. Worth checking for anyone with a passion for complex music with soul.
