The evolving history of Fallyrag

Fallyrag had its beginnings back in the autumn of 2005 when two University College Falmouth students decided to embark on a creative space project. Its on-going, guiding mission is to give a place for the natural flux of creativity and to avoid the trappings of being essentially fad-driven.

By New Year 2009 the space had developed online into ‘Fallyrag – The Creative Journal’ and was reaching a monthly audience in the thousands. Updated fortnightly, it showcased a wide variety of creative genres including contemporary art, photography, design, illustration, music and film.

Whilst still remaining largely submission-driven, the journal developed a style which allowed both unknown & established talent to emerge and evolve side-by-side. A composition of creative moments arose, from bedroom art right through to exhibition work.

On May 1st, 2009, Fallyrag – The Arts & Culture Journal was launched.

Whilst retaining the creative space, the journal has expanded its horizons, reflecting these changing artistic times and is now updated on a daily basis; keeping in tune with the pace of the arts industry. What in some circles has been described as the 'third perspective' of Fallyrag is in fact an expansion of the creative space.

New elements have been introduced including a House section of the Fallyrag Arts Archive, which features creative impressions by our resident writers and artists, from numerous arts and music events. Fallyrag at the Festivals; previewing the best of arts festivals in the UK includes both previews of the best events and creative reviews.

Also new to the journal are the Fallybabblers, our house bloggers, who keep regularly updated blogs on creativity and culture. Our regular writers include Art Director Jon Morse, Editor and Writer Rob Dickins, Music & Film expert Daniel Cadwallader and our London culture master Dan McKerrell.

As the community continues to grow, we hope that you too can be a part of the creative revolution and join the new outpouring of artistic and creative talent, which is bursting into freedom even as you read.
